We spent last week (and part of the week before) up in Boston for the National Council of Teachers of English, where it was extremely cold and full of delightful teachers. Gene Luen Yang, the author of Boxers & Saints, stopped in to spend some time with us after the National Book Awards.
Before we headed in to NCTE proper, Gene did a talk with M.T. Anderson and the Harvard Bookstore. They held it at a neighboring theater, which was great!
First Second exhibits at NCTE with our parent company, MacKids. Here’s the booth!
And here are the graphic novels. All the books that have received a starred review get a star bookmark in them.
Boxers & Saints has the most. (Also, since it is a box, we had to get creative with the star attachment!)
Then Gene headed off to a standing room only panel on historical fiction with Monica Edinger, Rita Williams-Garcia, and M.T. Anderson!
And we end with a signing.
We love getting the chance to go and visit with great teachers from all around the US!
